I have just purchased the Ditto looper pedal by TC Electronics and have been having lots of fun with it. For a start the pedal is so tiny you are likely to lose it down the back of the sofa. Great for space saving pedalboards though.
A Looper pedal does exactly as the name describes. It allows you to loop a section of music or chord progression continuously without stopping. This is therefore great for laying down a chord progression and practicing your improvisation over the top.
Personally I think everyone should have a looper pedal for practice and for song writing.
With a looper pedal you no longer require your friend to continuously play a chord progression for you until he gets bored or gets fatigued. You can quickly record a loop and be practicing your solo over the top until you get bored or there is a power cut.
With the looper pedal you can very quickly get lost in the endless possibilities of layering sounds. Start with a bass line, add a few chords, then add some double stops and then finally solo over the top. Hours of fun can be had with this great pedal and this is a great device for sparking creativity.
Not only can you plug a guitar through this pedal but also a Bass and Keyboard. Take a look at the video below which shows Ed Sheeran being very creative with his custom made looper pedal.

We hope you enjoyed reading this month blog post all about looping. It is a very inspiring thing to do and we would recommend anyone trying one out at your local music shop. Until next month keep up the consistent practice and we shall see you all soon. For more articles like this consider subscribing to our mailing list.
